I feel that flight sims are much more enjoyable with force feedback, so I'd rather stay with this stick. I would imagine it wouldn't be very complicated to add, could it be added in a future update? I have a newer stick (saitek x52) that works exactly the same as the sidewinder 2 but no force feedback. Id like to make use of them but dont recall any PC games that will take advantage of them. It doesn't work well since the forces feel weaker and minimizing the game causes war thunder to reinitialize it's own directinput. While cleaning out a closet I came across a Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick and a Thrustmaster gamepad (Vista recognizes it as a Microsoft Sidewinder gamepad).

I tried running "simffb", a program where you can modify force settings (including swap axis), by replacing the war thunder directinput to a modified one. Precision engineered, the SideWinder Force Feedback 2 lets you feel the thrill of victory Artikel 7 Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 PC Joystick. The joystick does work well with the game, just the feedback axis are swapped as compared to other force feedback joysticks like the logitech g940 (which seems to be officially supported by war thunder since it's one of the presets).Ī simple fix would be to have a swap axis option, like the once in DCS world.
Microsoft sidewinder precision 2 joystick drivers#
So I tried running the game in windows xp (ms sidewinder force feedback 2 is officially supported in xp) along with the official drivers and the same thing happens again.
Microsoft sidewinder precision 2 joystick upgrade#
The only suggestion I could make is to duel boot with an operating system that does have drivers available or upgrade to a newer stick. This is why you have issues with the force feedback in game. DO NOT LET WINDOWS BUILD DRIVERS FOR YOUR STICK.
Microsoft sidewinder precision 2 joystick install#
*****I RECOMMEND YOU INSTALL THE DRIVERS AND SOFTWARE FOR YOUR JOYSTICK. I have found in this game that windows drivers for some sticks do not work for War Thunder. (I've attached my, my dxdiag info, and latest client log) I looked for an adjustment I could make with settings but can't seem to find one. I can still make adjustments with a keyboard but not the joystick.
Microsoft sidewinder precision 2 joystick update#
Could you implement this in an update in the near future? The game isn't really playable in the current state. Recently the throttle on my Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick when backed to the idle level only reduces the power to about 50 on my Flight Sim 2004. In order to fix this, I propose that you implement more options to the force feedback, especially a force feedback axes swap option. I've noticed most people with this joystick had problems like this in war thunder. Most games with force feedback supported this controller perfectly, but for ones that didn't have the axes quite right, there were options to fix this manually (DCS world has a swap option which worked well). I am using the drivers installed by windows 7 automatically when using the device, but I don't think that's related to the problem.

Furthermore (and more annoyingly) when flying at relatively high speeds (more than 300km/h) when I pull back on the stick, the force feedback response is to pull left, and a left roll pulls the stick up, and so forth. For example, while takeoff, i have very light elevator control, while heavy aileron control (the airflow generated by the propeller should be affecting the elevator, not the ailerons). All of the forces that should be acting in the y axis (pitch) is acting in the x axis (roll) and vice versa. I think I'll call it Frankenfeedback. There is an issue with the microsoft sidewinder force feedback 2 in warthunder.
Microsoft sidewinder precision 2 joystick mod#
But a future mod to this stick may eliminate my need for that all together, and to be honest, I've been way more partial to bi-planes, prop planes, and the Ka-50 while simming si nce obtaining the MSFFB2. I still use my warthog stick for DCS - A-10c, or any other more modern DCS jet and also Falcon BMS due to the amount of buttons available. This stick is essential for DCS Blackshark 2, and I love it for any ww2 or ww1 flight sim with the shaking as a stall indicator and the stiffening of the forces when pushing the limits of my bird. I recently purchased a second MSFFB2 as a backup in case the one I have ever fails me or I feel like attempting to mod the older one with a stick with more buttons. THE best stick for flight sims that support FFB devices. Shame that it's no longer in production but I bought used and it works great
